Executive Board
Frank-Michael Schmidt is Partner and Chief Executive Officer of Scholz & Friends Group. Furthermore he leads, in collaboration with Christian Tiedemann, the Scholz & Friends holding Commarco as CEO.

Frank-Michael Schmidt was born in 1962 in Berlin. During his degree course in journalism, philosophy and political science at the Freie Universität Berlin (graduating as Magister Artium) he worked as a freelance journalist and copywriter. In 1989, he started his professional career as assistant to the board of management at Wilkens Ayer (now FCB) in Hamburg. From 1991, he worked as strategy consultant for the then market leader, Lintas. Before joining J. Walter Thompson, Frank-Michael Schmidt ran his own management consultancy company for strategic brand management. Until moving to Scholz & Friends in 2003, he was chief strategic officer at J. Walter Thompson Group in Germany, where he was in charge of strategy and new business development.

Frank-Michael Schmidt has been a member of the board at the GWA (German Association of Communication Agencies) since 2004. He was named “Agency Man of the Year” by the trade magazine “new business” in 2006.

Klaus Dittko is Partner and Executive Board Member of Scholz & Friends Group and Managing Director of Scholz & Friends Agenda.

Klaus Dittko, born 1967 in Bonn, is economist and political scientist. After his studies in Bonn and Tübingen he worked as political consultant and speech writer in the Federal Chancellery, as head of staff "Parliamentary Parties, Federal Government, Public Relations" in the permanent representation of Berlin at the Federal Government, and as press officer of Berlin’s Senator of Finance.

In September 2001, he joined Scholz & Friends and in April 2002, he founded the PR agency Scholz & Friends Agenda. Since 2006, he has been speaker of the Scholz & Friends PR-Group. In April 2008, he was appointed Executive Board Member of the Scholz & Friends Group.

Martin Pross is Partner and Executive Board Member of Scholz & Friends Group.

Martin Pross was born in Mainz in 1966. He studied communications design at the Saarbrücken College of Fine Arts. Having graduated in 1994, he started his career as Art Director at the agency Maksimovic & Partners. In 1996, Martin Pross joined Scholz & Friends Berlin, becoming Creative Director two years later. In 2001, having won numerous national and international creative awards, he joined the management. In 2007, he took over group-wide and cross-instrument tasks in Germany as International Creative Director in the Scholz & Friends orchestra and in the international Scholz & Friends offices. Since April 2008 he has been Executive Board Member of the Scholz & Friends Group.

Pross has been a member of the Art Directors Club for Germany since 1998. His work, amongst others for the State of Baden-Württemberg, the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung and Mercedes-Benz, has been honoured at the Clio, LIAA, The One Show and won Gold in Cannes and at the ADC for Germany.

Matthias Schmidt is Partner and Executive Board Member of Scholz & Friends Group and Creative Managing Director at Scholz & Friends Hamburg.

Matthias Schmidt was born in Frankfurt in 1970. He studied social and economic communication at the University of the Arts in Berlin and obtained his degree in communication in 1998. He launched his career in 1998 as a junior copywriter at Scholz & Friends Berlin, where he became a senior copywriter one year later and, in 2001, Creative Director and Family Head. In 2005, Schmidt, who has received numerous national and international awards, was appointed to the Management Board of Scholz & Friends Hamburg. In this function, he is responsible for the creative performance of the agency, in particular for renowned clients like Holsten, Honda, Commerzbank, Siemens, Zimbo or Tchibo. In April 2008, he was appointed Executive Board Member of the Scholz & Friends Group.

Schmidt has been a member of the Art Directors Club Deutschland since 2001. His works scooped prizes, among others, in Cannes, at the ADC Deutschland and in New York, at the Clio awards and at the London International Advertising Award.

Christian Tiedemann is Partner and Chief Financial Officer of Scholz & Friends Group. He is responsible for finance, controlling, legal affairs and IT. Furthermore he leads, in collaboration with Frank-Michael Schmidt, the Scholz & Friends holding Commarco as CEO.

Tiedemann was born in Gehrden near Hanover in 1966. Having trained as an industrial business executive between 1985 and 1987 at Philips GmbH in Hamburg he was in charge of controlling and sales coordination at that company. He subsequently worked in controlling at Feldmuehle UK in London before completing his business administration degree in 1993. His next move took him into international marketing and controlling for the BAT cigarette company. Three years later, he was appointed managing director of the A&M management consultancy firm where he advised advertising agencies on financial and controlling matters. Tiedemann has been working at Scholz & Friends as CFO since 1998.
