Scholz & Friends expands cooperation with universities
The Hamburg Friends collaborate on a course module for the Bremen University of Applied Sciences with an online assignment for Hannoversche Leben
Scholz & Friends Hamburg
1/25/2010, Hamburg -  Insufficient real-life relevance, outdated content, crowded seminars – these are the current preconceptions regarding the day-to-day life at German universities. Scholz & Friends shows that it doesn't have to be this way. The communications agency has formed a number of cooperations with universities to make degree programmes with a focus on marketing more attractive: through collaboration with the agency's clients, direct feedback from the communication professionals and against the backdrop of current social media scenarios.

35 students of the degree course “Trade and Retail Management” at the Bremen University of Applied Sciences had just this assignment in the current semester: in cooperation with Scholz & Friends Hamburg and Hannoversche Leben, they developed an online marketing concept for the direct carrier's occupational disability insurance. They presented their communication strategies to a jury consisting of marketing specialists from Hannoversche Leben and the Executive Board of Scholz & Friends.

Professor Peter M. Rose, head of the “Trade and Retail Management” program at the Bremen University of Applied Sciences, says that “working under real-life conditions is an exceptional challenge for our students which they mastered superbly. The cooperation with Scholz & Friends and Hannoversche Leben allows us to break new ground in higher education and give our alumni a real head start on the job market. To find suitable project partners, as in this case, we use contacts to alumni of our university who are working successfully in agencies or companies by now.”

Dr. Michael Gehrer, Director of Marketing Communications at Hannoversche Leben, is impressed by the professionalism and knowledge of the seminar's participants: “Especially when addressing a young target audience, online strategies are increasingly important,” he explains his company's involvement. “By working with the students, we get first-hand information on what influences their generation in the area of social media.”

Roland Bös, Deputy Managing Director at Scholz & Friends Hamburg, is also enthusiastic about cooperating with universities: “It isn't always easy for the universities to adapt their curricula to the speed with which the media evolve today. As a company, we can build a bridge here by assisting educators with our know-how in the area of social media.”
In addition to the cooperation with the Bremen University of Applied Sciences, Scholz & Friends will organise other cooperations in the 2010 summer semester. The Friends are also active nationwide with lectures, portfolio consultations and competitions for young talent such as the Art Contest, Strategy Weekend and copywriters' competition for tomorrow's communication professionals.
