Scholz & Friends Agenda launches umbrella brand marketing campaign for Saxony-Anhalt’s capital city
Scholz & Friends Agenda
2/2/2010, Berlin - Magdeburg is to become an “Ottostadt” (Otto city). Today marks the launch of the new umbrella brand for Saxony-Anhalt’s capital city. This orchestrated, long-term campaign, developed by Scholz & Friends Agenda, is aimed at giving the city a distinctive profile through the newly created brand “Ottostadt Magdeburg”. This title is derived from the city’s history and makes reference to two of its important historical personalities: Emperor Otto the Great and the inventor Otto von Guericke. These two figures have left their lasting marks on Magdeburg, marks that continue to contribute to the city’s distinctiveness today.

For the launch of the campaign, famous Magdeburg personalities, such as the shotputter Nadine Kleinert or the musician and moderator Stephan Michme, have become involved and taken on the roles of ambassador for the Ottostadt. Posters featuring slogans such as “Otto ist olympisch” (Otto is Olympian) and “Otto singt” (Otto sings) display the city’s potential.

The posters are on show in Magdeburg from today. And the central online platform at http://www.ottostadt.de gives citizens the opportunity of becoming involved via questions, comments, ideas and suggestions.

All of the city’s future marketing activities will be created to fit under the new “Ottostadt” umbrella.
