After a Europe-wide call for tenders, Scholz & Friends Brand Affairs' bid to organize the “Autofreien Sonntage” (“Car-free Sundays”) of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg for the second time was accepted. The event-marketing specialist in the Scholz & Friends orchestra is continuing the event series, which started in 2008, with two events in 2009. The agency is responsible for design and implementation of the events, logo and poster development and media tie-ins. The motto of the first car-free Sunday of 2009, 21 June, will be “Mehr Lebensqualität auf Hamburgs Straßen” (“More quality of life on Hamburg's streets”). This is also the first time the event will be combined with Sunday shopping.
On this day, the city will again give a strong impulse for active climate protection: on a three-kilometre stretch from Ludwig-Erhard-Straße and Willy-Brandt-Straße across Domplatz to the Ballindamm at the Binnenalster, Hamburg's residents will reclaim the streets for one day. The downtown streets will become an event and information fairground with three stages and numerous activities focused on climate protection, which also aim to create an awareness for the quality of life on public roads. The use of public transportation in the entire Hamburg area will be free on this day. The agency already successfully implemented the first four car-free Sundays in the Hanseatic city in 2008.
Scholz & Friends Brand Affairs is the event marketing agency in the Scholz & Friends agency group. Among other things, the agency advised the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg during its application for the title of “European Environmental Capital 2011”, awarded for the first time by the EU.
