„ Spotlight on human rights “
Conducting idea
Scholz & Friends developed a six-month, pan-European campaign in an effort to communicate the European Parliament's commitment to human rights and to sensitise EU citizens to contemporary issues of global importance.
Task
- Develop and run a pan-European campaign detaiing the European Parliament’s position on human rights.
- Enable the European Parliament to cast light on human rights around the world in a two-phase campaign to be implemented over an extended period, using a variety of printed communication material, events and online tools.
Idea
- Reassert the European Parliament as a staunch defender of human rights.
- Emphasise the need for a "Spotlight on human rights" through implementation of an innovative and interactive light installation featuring 22 life-size silhouettes and provision of a torch as a give-away.
Success
- 33 European Parliament Information Offices across Europe were provided with a range of campaign material, including posters, brochures, flyers, block notes and info folders in 24 languages, as well as pens and torches.
- A prominent light installation in Brussels and Strasbourg generated extensive media coverage and attracted thousands of visitors.
- Branding of the Sakharov Prize Ceremony and online banners in 24 languages enhanced the campaign's visual impact through a variety of platforms and encouraged public support and awareness-raising.
- Online communication via banners in 24 languages.
